Hey, friends! Missy Whidden here with a new layout featuring the Horizon collection. I get so excited each week when Paige uploads new cut files, and as soon as I saw the Wildflowers design, I knew right away what I wanted to make with it. My color scheme was actually inspired by the colors in the Epoxy Stickers that I used as my title. I wanted to include some bright pink and orange, so I chose patterned papers with those colors as well as some purple and yellow. I created a fun landscape, spreading the flowers across the page in a horizontal fashion. I used Paper 06 for the sky and Paper 12 for the grass.
I love this Wildflowers cut file because it looks great in small scale like this. I think it would look really nice enlarged to fit an entire sheet as well. I cut these small in bright colors and overlapped them to create lots of fun layers. I did add some mixed media to the background to create shading. I smudged white gesso behind the flowers and added in some different blue and green ink sprays to add darker areas.

I used a small black & white photo to really allow it to pop off the page against all those bright colors. I kept the embellishments pretty tight around the photo. I used some Epoxy Stickers for my title. I tucked in a big pink Ephemera Die Cut under that with a Sticker to finish it off. I had one Shaped Paper Clip left in my stash, so I attached it to the photo. I also tucked in some tangled thread under the photo for extra texture. I also machine stitched a bit through the Sticker and along the bottom of all the flowers.

Up in the sky area I attached some butterflies. I fussy cut a few of them from Paper 07 and also used some from the Stickers. I machine stitched trails behind them using white thread.

ReplyDeleteEpic Missy ! I love the wall of flowers in all the colours <3 They remind me of my Gran's patio when I was little. It was tucked in a corner and surrounded with Hollyhocks. So pretty !!
