Mardi Gras Layout by Brianna Lepper

Hi crafty friends! Brianna Lepper here today with another layout using Paige's newest collection, Bloom Street! I've said this before and I'll say it again, this collection is so beautiful! All of the pastel spring colors make me so happy! I noticed there are a lot of soft purples, greens, and yellows and I was immediately inspired. We are currently stationed in Northwest Louisiana for the second time and if you've ever experienced Mardi Gras down here, you'll know how much of a big deal it is! Paige's Geometric Fleur De Lis cut file was the perfect cut file for my project. Here it is!
To start, I cut the Geometric Fleur De Lis cut file from a piece of white cardstock on my Silhouette Cameo. The geometric pattern in the cut file was actually an excellent match for Paper 22 so in true Mardi Gras fashion, I made sure that each portion of the Fleur De Lis had the yellow, purple and green from that patterned paper. After the entire cut file was backed (this one was super easy to do) I wanted to add a little more interest on my page. What better way to do that than with Paige's rolled flower cut files! I used three different papers from the 12x12 Paper Pad. They're so pretty! I feel like I need to cut a bunch more and just have them ready to go!

I adhered everything to the pink and white polka dot paper from the 12x12 Paper Pad. For my title, I was inspired by one of Paige's recent layouts where she hand cut her letters to create a title. Mine was just a mini version. Simple, but it definitely stood out on top of that pink paper. For my journaling, I pulled this cute yellow circle piece from the Ephemera Die Cuts and simply wrote a few thoughts down. I also added a hummingbird from the Ephemera Die Cuts and then added tangled thread underneath the rolled flowers for another layer of texture. I sprinkled a few of the silver adhesive jewels from the Mixed Embellishments around the page.

The photo I used is of my boys after a float loading parade event. They got cups, stuffed animals, specialty beads, blow necklaces, etc. Pretty awesome for just a pre-parade thing! Parades anywhere else will never be the same! I backed my photo using the same patterned papers from the rolled flowers, I added a cute yellow heart piece from the Ephemera Die Cuts, and added some stickers from the Cardstock Stickers and the 4-Page Sticker Book. To tie everything together and to help finish off my layout, I splattered white acrylic paint around the page. It's definitely something I love to do when I use patterned paper as a base for my layout. I love the way the white pops off of the page.

Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my Mardi Gras layout. I know it was a few weeks back, but I figured it would be close enough to still create a page about it! I've got a process video for you below, I'd love for you to check it out!
