Burano Mini Album by Kelly Daye

Hello, hello! Kelly Daye here with a fun and colourful mini album for Paige’s Silhouette Design Team. Burano, Italy is a colorful little island a short boat ride from Venice. Of course I used Go the Scenic Route. The cover was made using Paige’s Doily Corner cut file cut from white cardstock. The doily was perfect for two reasons. First, Burano is famous for their hand made lace. The little doily in all the photos is a treasure I brought back for myself. Second, this cut file has two flat edges! Hello mini album!

I offset the Doily Corner cut file in Silhouette Studio to create the front and back shape of the album. The pink cover is the B-side of Paper 20, the pretty butterfly design on the other side lines the inside of my mini. All the interior pages were cut in the same shape and stitched on my sewing machine. They’re held in place with a hidden accordion hinge. A method I learned from Paige. Watch Paige's video to learn how it’s done. One tassel I made and one is from the Bloom Street collection. Can you see the beautiful bird Charm? It’s one from a set of six Charms available in Go the Scenic Route.

The first page was made by cutting the photo on my Silhouette mat using the same cut file as all the other pages. I used Archival Ink and the Acrylic Stamps to add, ‘Scenic Route’ on top of the photo. Then I topped this page off with florals from the Cardstock Stickers.

Paper 15 is so lovely, I just added a couple of photos because I didn’t want to cover the birds. I loved being able to point to Burano on a map using Paper 5 and a tag from the Ephemera Die Cuts. I sewed on the word ROAM from the Puffy Word Stickers and used a tiny Enamel Dot to mark the spot.

You’ve probably seen this view before, it’s so iconic. For sure I had to ‘Snap A Photo’. That's from the Puffy Phrase Thickers.

The shaker, made with the B-sides of Paper 24 and Paper 6 was embellished with butterflies from the Ephemera Die Cut, an "Imagine" Cardstock Sticker, and a little logo I cut out of the packaging because it’s so pretty.

Here I am at the Market! Paige’s Cityscape cut file reminded me of the tall houses in Burano. I cut them from bits of colorful Go the Scenic Route papers to make my own street. The background paper is a combo of two sheets from the 6x8 Paper Pad. The smaller prints are so perfect for mini albums.

The next page, while it took 3 days to stitch, is my favorite. Inspired by Paige, I embroidered a floral paper from the 6x8 Paper Pad with DMC Floss. Since the flowers are quite small and delicate, I only used 4 strands of thread.

All I added was the word ‘Love’ from the Puffy Phrase Thickers. On the opposite side is my guy, ‘relaxing’ in the shade while I shopped. The phrase is from the Puffy Word Stickers. A journaling tag from the Ephemera Die Cuts is tucked in behind the photo and topped off with bits of ribbon, string, and tulle from my stash.

Last page! I made a journaling tag using Paige’s cute Stacked Suitcases cut file. It’s cut from navy cardstock and paper backed with bits of the collection. When I remove the suitcases (tag), there’s all the stuff I forgot to pack! All fussy cut from Paper 6. Goodness, there’s always something, ha!

Fittingly, my back cover asks, “Where to next?” via the Puffy Phrase Thickers. My little vignette includes a flower bouquet from the Cardstock Stickers all built up on a tag from the Ephemera Die Cuts.

Hope we can all begin to enjoy traveling again soon and that you enjoyed my Burano mini album!
