A Little Us Time at Home Layout by Paige Evans

I have new embroidered layout to share with you today created with Bungalow Lane!

To make this page I started with a piece of Paper 18 with all the patterned triangles which reminds me of a quilt. Hand stitching and quilting patterns go hand-in-hand so I pierced a hole about every 1/4 around all of the triangles.
Once all of the holes were pierced, I grabbed coordinating colors of DMC embroidery thread and did a backstitch around all of the triangles. I think it took about 8 hours to stitch the entire background and I watched Midnight Mass on Netflix whilst doing so - holy crow, GREAT show! If you're into that kind of stuff :)
With the background complete, it was time for a photo and embellishments! I printed a photo of me, the kids, and the new kitties to 3" square and trimmed it out leaving a white border so there could be visual separation between the picture and the busy background. Then came the layers! And more layers and more layers and more layers! I used a little somethin' somethin' from almost every type of embellishment in Bungalow Lane.
First I tucked a piece of a floral frame Chipboard Sticker leftover from a previous layout under the top edge. Under that I tucked a "Home Sweet Home" Cardstock Sticker, pink house Chipboard Sticker, and a red flower Layered Sticker. The title is made from a sentiment banner sticker from the Layered Stickers but it says "A LITTLE ME TIME." I covered up the "me" with a tiny piece of pink patterned paper from the 2x2 Paper Pads and added "US" stickers on top then clipped on a yellow Bird Paper Clip.
I fussy cut some tiny "AT" letters from a sentiment in the 8-Page Sticker Book followed by a dark blue "home" word from the Foam Phrase Stickers to complete the title. Next I trimmed an orange Floral Die Cut in half and tucked the halves under the left and right edges. I added a pink/brown sprig under the left edge and an orange sprig under the right edge, both from the Floral Die Cuts. I trimmed a "You've Cat to be Kitten Me Right Meow" sentiment from the Cardstock Stickers and tucked them under the left and right edges. You'll also find a Cardstock Sticker of my beloved cat Rachel asleep in her chair, and three Epoxy Stickers: an orange leaf, red leaf, and "made with love" embroidery hoop.
A piece of scalloped Washi Tape adorns the bottom edge and then I tucked a partial piece of an Ephemera Die Cut underneath. I journaled on the card with a blue pen and stamped the date below with a darker blue ink.
I hope this layout inspires you to try embroidery on your layouts using Bungalow Lane! I love the texture and home-spun look & feel that hand stitching adds to my designs!

  1. Paper 18 stitched, looks so pretty, what a good pick and what a great job of it! It's lots of fun to see all the pretty things around the photo too. There's so much detail! You're kitty cats are so tiny and cute. Ours weren't kittens when we got them so I kind of missed that. 💛🌸xK
