Dreamy Layout by Shimelle

Hey howdy hey friends! It's Shimelle and I'm excited to share with you a new layout using plenty of purple from Bloom Street along with this fab Star Wreath cut file and a photo from Disneyland!
The top I'm wearing in this photo has a space ranger badge on the front and says 'to infinity and beyond!' on the back, so I knew from the start I wanted to pair it with purple and green to play up the Buzz Lightyear memories, plus plenty of stars seem apt for a space ranger in Tomorrowland. I couldn't decide between a star background or a star wreath, so put it to a vote on social media and the star wreath was the winner! I started the whole process by cutting that at the full page size from white cardstock on my Silhouette Cameo.

I love the futuristic pastel vibe of Paper 17 and the colors make me absolutely so happy! That became my background, and I needed some more saturated colors to back the star shapes on the wreath, so I chose six different papers from the 2x2 Paper Pads and was able to get two stars from each swatch.  Arranging the wreath so the darker purple stars appeared at the top left and bottom right of the circle helped create a natural flow for the smaller embellishments that would later finish my page.

My favorite way to work with a large circular element like this wreath is to find a natural curve in the photograph and match that to the circle by tucking it under the wreath and lining up the two curves. In this case, there's a curved line in the photo made by how I'm sitting, so I tucked the photo (plus a few mats in purples and light blue) under the wreath at the bottom right, so the purple star ended up right at my knee. Everything else is layered out from there: Ephemera Die Cuts to the left, including a space to journal, a word strip cut from Paper 13, and Cardstock Stickers at the top. The 'dreamy' title is made with the Puffy Word Stickers.

To pick up on that diagonal line from the top left to the bottom right, I scattered small embellishments: the glittery white Enamel Dots, silver sequins from the Mixed Embellishments, and tiny stars from the 4-Page Sticker Book. A little green thread through the two tags adds a bit of texture to finish the project.

If you'd like to see how this came together, here's all of that in process video form!

Thanks so much for taking a look, and please do let me know if you make something with purple, green, and stars any time soon.
