Magical Layout

Butterflies are the name of the game on this new layout featuring my new Bloom Street collection and Butterfly Border cut file!

First, check out the process video to see how this layout came together from start-to-finish:
I began by die cutting the Butterfly Border cut file from white textured cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo and carefully peeled it off the sticky cutting mat, making sure to take my time to ensure it wouldn’t tear since it’s a fairly intricate design.
Next, in Silhouette Studio, I copied and pasted each inner butterfly three times and cut each set of three butterflies from different Bloom Street patterned papers. I picked papers in an ombre fashion – starting with colors on white, to pinks, to purples, and finishing up with blues.
I placed the cut file on the B-side of Paper 23 with the ombre geometric design. It’s a busier paper than I tend to use for my backgrounds, but the colors are similar to the colors I picked for the patterned paper butterflies and the ombre design mimicked them as well – it was meant to be! I lightly adhered the stacked butterflies in place and then machine stitched through each one using white thread.
After stitching I bent up all the butterfly wings to create dimension and have the butterflies appear as if they’re taking flight. I tucked a photo into the top right and then made the title “MAGICAL” with the Puffy Word Stickers. I mirrored the title with another Puffy Word Sticker, “FUN”, on the bottom left corner.
To embellish, I added white glitter Enamel Dots, silver sequins from the Mixed Embellishments, and adhesive jewels (also from the Mixed Embellishments) on and between the butterflies then added three butterfly stickers from the 4-Page Sticker Book - the more butterflies the merrier! I wrote journaling with a blue pen below the photo to finish.
I hope you are inspired to pick up my new Bloom Street collection and join my Happy Scrappy Place Facebook Group to get a free weekly cut file! Thank you so much for stopping by!
