Autumn Layout

Wednesday, October 23, 2019

I created a fall-themed layout for the Fall 2019 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine, featuring Truly Grateful and my Autumn with Stitching Holes cut file!
I started by die cutting my Autumn with Stitching Holes cut file from smooth white cardstock using a Silhouette Cameo 3. It cuts out the AUTUMN and then cuts the holes for stitching so I don't have to make the holes myself! Such a time saver.
Then I stitched over-under with an ombre pink/red thread that I found by DMC at Michaels around all of the letters. It took about an hour, maybe two, to stitch around all the letters. I love the texture & pop of color this stitching adds.
I backed the "N" with a family photo taken last fall - the colors of our outfits match perfectly with Truly Grateful serendipitously! Then I did the peek-a-boo technique and tucked all of the Floral Die Cuts under the upper left side of each letter, layering them and tucking them in place, using dimensional adhesive to add them for different depths to create shadows. I also slightly bent up the flower and leaf edges to make them stand out a bit.
I trimmed a 1/4" border from the pink plaid Paper 12 and adhered it to the page. For a finishing touch I trimmed a scalloped border Sticker into two pieces and added one to the top edge and one to the bottom as well as "THANKFUL" and "BLESSED" words from the Puffy Phrase Stickers. Then I machine stitched over those words and scalloped stickers to help them stay in place forever and add texture. To finish I typed, printed, trimmed, and glued journaling strips inside the "A".
I hope this page inspires you to pick up the Fall 2019 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine, grab my Truly Grateful collection, as well as my Autumn with Stitching Holes cut file. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Have you ever spotted those cute floral vintage tablecloths at markets. Probably from the 40's and 50's? (I adore the 40's era decor) Your layout, design and colours really reminds me of them. The running stitch gives it a very tailored vibe and the flowers are perfect! Did I mention how smitten I am with this technique :D. Beautiful LO Paige! xK
