Hey, hi, hello scrappy friends! Here is a layout I made with Happy Haven featuring my Flower & Petal for Stitching Cut File for the Scrapbook & Cards Today Crop & Create Papercrafting Event last spring! This layout celebrates so many things I love (hand stitching, flowers, lots of patterned papers, and pastel colors) and highlights a sweet photo Jane who is always willing to let me take photos of her when I need pictures to scrapbook. I scraplifted this layout using Lovely Lane and re-posted it at the end to see how simply by changing the collection you get new and beautiful results!
Start with a smooth sheet of white 12x12 cardstock for the background. Use the Petal for Stitching Cut File to make 10 petals from the following papers as shown going clockwise and starting at the top and I’ve listed the DMC thread number for each paper:
1 - aqua floral Paper 11 (#992)
2 - peach frames Paper 7 (#3779)
3 - white large floral Paper 1 (#964)
4 - dark yellow floral Paper 5 (#834)
5 - light blue floral Paper 8 (#3325)
6 - green/blue diamonds Paper 9 (#704)
7 - white mini floral Paper 9 (#211)
8 - pink floral Paper 4 (#3689)
9 - yellow floral Paper 8 (#11)
10 - colorful rectangles Paper 4 (#3806)
Use 32” of the listed colors of DMC embroidery thread to do a back stitch around each petal and it took me about 10-15 minutes to stitch each petal which is about 2 hours of stitching time. Find the center of the layout at 6 inches in and 6 inches down and make a mark with a pencil. Cut out a Flower from the Flower & Petal for Stitching Cut File to use as a guide for placing the petals - place the flower in the center of the page, adhere the 10 petals inside the flower, then remove the flower and use it on a separate layout.
Attach a 3x4” photo to the center of the flower then add a “Grateful” Foam Sticker below. Embellish the title with a blue sentiment from the Journaling Die Cuts below the bottom right, a pink hummingbird Cardstock Sticker above the left side, and tuck a blue label Journaling Die Cut up under the right then write journaling on it with a yellow pen. Place a flower Cardstock Sticker or Die Cut between every petal. Cut a 2” square from the dark floral square on the top left side of the cut-apart Paper 12. Trim the square in half diagonally then cut those two triangles in half again to make 4 triangles. Use scalloped scissors to trim the long diagonal edge of each triangle. Adhere a paper triangle to each corner of the layout. Trim off the four corners from an ornate pink frame Die Cut then tuck a piece under each corner. Cut a pink oval scalloped journaling spot Die Cut in half and tuck the halves under the top left and bottom right corners. Cut a gold foil oval scalloped frame Die Cut in half and tuck the halves under the top right and bottom left corners. To finish, trim off any excess bits hanging off the edges.
