Here's a look back at our February 2026!
I got results back from my Function Health tests. The most important thing I learned is I have a ton of food sensitivities. These are not severe allergies like some people have with peanuts and such, but more that my body just doesn't process these things well which causes inflammation which makes me feel sick.
Guess what I have been eating for breakfast every.single.day for the past several years? Scrambled eggs. Guess what my biggest sensitivity is? Eggs. No freaking wonder I've been feeling like shiznit for years. No eggs also means no baked goods and anything that has egg in it. Along with no chocolate (that sucks), casein (which is milk, so, no dairy), coffee (meaning caffeine and I absolutely cannot survive without "mommy's energy" so I won't cut down on that one), corn (I have had popcorn every single night as a snack for years), peanuts (not a huge deal but still, I do like the occasional peanut snack), soybean (what has soybeans in it?), tomato (I looooooove tomatoes and everything made with tomatoes so this one stings), wheat & yeast (which essentially this means I need to be gluten free). So what CAN I eat?!? Meat. Rice. Beans. Even potatoes are iffy under the tomato category. I'm actually writing this post in August 2026 so it's been a few months and while I definitely still eat some of these things and drink two 5-hour energy shots a day, I can confirm that by mostly cutting out eggs and bread I started feeling better in about 6 weeks! I am still struggling with what to eat though because so much of these things are considered "healthy". Anyhoo, I'm so happy to finally be feeling better!
The plan for the 3rd weekend of February was to fly to Vegas to run the 5k with the girls and then go see the new Wuthering Heights movie so in preparation I bought the book. I could not even read two pages, I couldn't understand it. And then, life happened and I didn't end up going to Vegas. Continue reading for why.
Pink nails for the win!
GO SEAHAWKS! We wore green and blue to show our support for the team to church on Super Bowl Sunday. The Seahawks won (of course!) against the Patriots. Next year it will be Broncos vs Seahawks, I'm calling it now :)
Me on a random Tuesday and me on Valentine's Day.
Earring stacks. I am obsessed with ear piercings...
Fox spends 99% of his free time gaming in the basement. I needed lots of pics of him for my next scrappy project.
Pics of Fox reading for my scrappy project (20 Legendary Layouts).
I love how Chris displayed my nightly fruit snack.
Poor Phoebe. I took her to a new vet (this is the 4th one by the way) because she wasn't eating and it turned out she had an abscess that required surgery. Finally a vet that knows what they're doing and talking about. These were all the medications and supplements that she needed to be given twice daily and her abscess had to be rinsed twice daily too.
My beloved Grandpa John passed away. Of course we were all so very sad, but he had been wanting to depart his failing mortal body for a long long time, ever since Grandma Cathie passed away. He passed away peacefully with one of his sons by his side. It was a LOT to for me to handle in February physically and emotionally, what with my health, super sick Phoebe, and my Grandpa. Chris stayed home to take care of the bunny and I booked tickets for me, Fox & Jane to fly to Utah for the funeral.
I tasked Fox & Jane with getting us from the parked car at the airport all the way to our gate which is a tall order for the Denver airport. They did it with flying colors! Crushing life skillz.
Getting de-iced before takeoff took forever, like over an hour.
We landed at the Salt Lake airport around 9pm, rented a car, drove to Orem, stopped at the very Target I worked at for 6 months back in 2005 for groceries for my special dietary needs, and then made our way to the AirBnb. The next morning we got ready for the funeral. How many people can fit in the bathroom?
We had some time before the viewing so my brother Eric, niece Zoe, nephew Wes, Fox, Jane, and I drove to the BYU campus to walk around. I can't believe they tore down the Creamery on Ninth!
Thankfully they built a new schwanky Creamery in the same parking lot and it was open for business.
Fox grabbing a bottle of the righteous cookies & cream milk.
Never too early for snacks with a view of Y Mountain.
Future zoobies!
Walking past the new Harris Fine Arts Center which is where I spent most of my time in my later years of college taking art classes and getting my degree to become an art teacher, which I didn't end up going the traditional art-teacher-in-a-school-setting route but I definitely teach art!!
Mt Timpanogos in all her glory.
Walking back to the car, weaving our way through the Law Building and Heritage Halls.
First was the viewing and then the memorial in the chapel. I'll always remember my uncle David's talk about the time Grandpa drove David all the way to Durango Colorado to go to some clothing store and Grandpa immediately said yes because it was all about spending TIME together.
Fox was one of the pall bearers. His name was Fox Taylor in the program hehe.
Then we drove to the cemetery to have the special graveside service.
Until we meet again Grandpa John, we miss you and we love you.
Back at the church we had catered BBQ for lunch which was Grandpa's request. I love that and it was delicious.
We went back down to the BYU campus to go to the bookstore.
Checking out art supplies.
Then we walked to the Brigham Young University Museum of Art (MOA). I took Fox & Jane straight down to the basement where there is a classroom which is the very location where Chris and I met on January 22nd 2004.
I took this photo, sent it to Chris (remember he was at home to take care of Phoebe) and he immediately replied "Ghiberti's Gates of Paradise?" He's so smart, it's so sexy :) He has a degree in Art History afterall!
We drove past the Warner's old home on Apple Avenue. I spent many many many hours in this house.
We met up at Grandpa's condo to pick up some things. He was so big on family history.
A beautiful sunset to conclude a somber but wonderful day.
We went to Minky Couture.
My mom bought everyone present a new soft blanket.
Thanks Malm!!!
Everyone headed back to the AirBnb except me and my kids because we needed BYU Creamery ice-cream.
I'm so happy. Cookies'n'cream ice cream from the BYU Creamery is the BEST. Food sensitivities be darned.
The college girl at the checkout counter told Jane she liked her Hollow Knight pin and Jane literally started crying. She's so cute and emo.
Early the next morning we all packed up and headed back to our various homes. The kids and I flew back to Colorado. My dad drove back to Spokane. Eric, Allie, Tate, my mom, and their kids drove to Vegas because that was when we were all supposed to be there for the 5k. My mom, sister, and Tanya ended up doing the race, but it just didn't work out logistically for me. We'll run it all together next year!
Lisa Fonseca who is from Luxembourg but has been living in North Carolina for the past four months flew to Denver so we could teach our Take Note Virtual Weekend live from my Happy Scrappy Place!
We had about a-day-and-a-half to explore before teaching so here's a recap:
We drove down to Colorado Springs to visit the beautiful Garden of the Gods.
Then we swung by Simple Pleasures Scrapbooking Store.
Yes scrapbook stores still exist and Simple Pleasures is one of the BEST!
I spy Lovely Lane!
We both bought some scrappy goodies.
We stopped at Pegasus which is a greek restaurant in Castle Rock on the way home for lunch which is always delicious.
Then we taught on February 28th & March 1st so that's the end of this month!

Kitties! Kitties! Kitties! That's what we chant when we're a few blocks away coming home from vacations. I love this photo of Amy & Sandy because it's so typical - Amy in disgust and Sandy just wanting to be loved by Amy.
The girls.
Only two pics of Amy this month, it was a busy one.
Why does Sandy like sleeping in weird places? Her face was totally smashed down on the blanket for this afternoon nap.
Can we get like 5 more kitties because they're the best.

Now officially onto the scrappy things!
I shared (2) 12x12 layouts and a mini album in February. Click on the links to take you to each post for all the details and to read more about these projects:

Almost ready to release my 20 Legendary Layouts Class.
Making the kits for my Legendary class.
Lisa and I taught our Take Note Virtual Weekend Event live from my Happy Scrappy Place! You can still purchase virtual access HERE.
This layout stack is getting tall - I think it's about time to file them away chronologically into their scrapbooks.
That's our February 2026 in a nutshell! Things will only get busier from here on out!
